Welcome! Thank you for taking a moment to read my story. My name is Eddie Sahakian, and it’s truly a blessing and an honor to serve as the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Brazos Valley.
I was raised in Southern California in a Christian home, but it wasn’t until I was nearly 23 years old that I repented of my sins and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. My early years were fairly typical, but everything changed when I was fifteen years old. I was involved in a near-fatal car accident that left me hospitalized for over 30 days with a broken back and serious internal injuries, requiring two major surgeries.
In the aftermath of that experience, I found myself struggling with anger and hatred towards God. Feeling lost and searching for acceptance, I turned to drugs and alcohol. But on April 14, 2002, I reached a breaking point. Instead of going to a recovery program, I felt a deep desire to go to church. So, I got in my car and ended up at Calvary Chapel Montebello. That day, I gave my life to Christ, was Born Again by the Spirit of God, and everything changed—forever.
In 2006, I joined the staff at Calvary Chapel Golden Springs, where I had the privilege of serving in many roles, including janitor, web developer, and associate pastor. Under the guidance of my pastor, Raul Ries, and through the leading of the Holy Spirit, God placed a growing passion in my heart to study and teach the Bible.
In 2009, I met my wonderful wife, Sheri, and we were married in 2011. Together, we’ve been blessed with three incredible sons, Levi, Liam, and Lincoln. In 2015, God called us to step out in faith and plant a church in Bryan, Texas. We left California and began this journey, holding our very first service on February 7, 2016. Since then, we’ve seen God faithfully grow the fellowship.
My heart is to see lives transformed through the gospel of Jesus Christ—to see people come to know Him and grow in His Word.
